‘Registration Doesn’t Lead To Confiscation,’ But It Just Did In California

Posted on February 16, 2016 by Dawn Parabellum

California is a very hostile state toward gun owners. The laws are many, and they’re often ridiculous and counter productive. In fact, California has a universal registration law so the state knows exactly who owns what guns. While gun owners keep getting told “registration doesn’t lead to confiscation,” it is obvious by now that it does. On top of that, California has gone full Nazi on their residents to prove it.

Gun owners are constantly being told “no one is coming for your guns.” Except, people are coming for your guns. The government and anti-gun liberals are coming for your guns, and now, we know that is a fact after two days worth of confiscations remove 83 guns from civilians.

Using registration information and the Department of Justice’s Armed Prohibited Persons System, DOJ agents and Santa Barbara County Sheriffs deputies went door-to-door to remove pistols, shotguns, and rifles from people cross referenced on both lists. In a statement from California’s Attorney General Kamala D. Harris, the state has recovered 83 firearms, 6,326 rounds of ammunition, and 52 magazines.

“Removing firearms from dangerous and violent individuals makes our communities safer,” said Harris, currently running for a U.S. Senate seat. “I thank our Department of Justice Bureau of Firearms Special Agents and the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department for taking on this dangerous work and their steadfast commitment to keeping our streets safe.”

The state even confiscated black powder rifles and a couple of incomplete and unusable firearms. They also found three “assault weapons,” determined by the state of California as being illegal. The confiscation program is deeply flawed though and riddled with errors. It has been since its inception, with guns being removed from harmless individuals with decades old marijuana charges, to adding residents to the list for simply undergoing minor mental health treatments.

Unfortunately, this little sting operation will only seek to drive the already thriving underground market for guns in the leftist state of California. In addition to adding to the state’s Nazi-like confiscation of legally registered guns, the true criminals are harboring guns that will never show up for a cross-reference with California’s “prohibited persons” list. That makes the removal of private property, quite simply, a violation of Constitutional rights. No one is coming for your guns, except the people who are coming for your guns.
