Fighting for Equal Protection:

Affirmative Action & One-Person-One-Vote

A Teleforum Sponsored by the Claremont Institute’s
Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence

Thursday, December 17 @ 1:00pm EDT

Join Dr. John C. Eastman, Founding Director of the Claremont Institute's Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence this Thursday for a tele-town hall that takes a look at the oral arguments from two of the term's most important cases—Fisher v. University of Texas and Evenwel v. Abbott.

In Fisher the Court considers whether affirmative action in higher education can be maintained in its current form, or if it should finally be abandoned. The petitioners in Evenwel challenge the way most states calculate population when drawing political districts. If time permits, we will also touch on Harris v. Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission, which similarly questions whether the one-person-one-vote requirement may be overridden in order to comply with the Voting Rights Act.

Dr. Eastman will be joined by Ilya Shapiro, Senior Fellow in Constitutional Studies at the Cato Institute and a recently-minted Lincoln Fellow.
