President Trump was correct to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement. He could have explained that the science was premeditated and deliberately orchestrated to demonize CO2 for a political agenda. Wisely, he simply explained that it was a bad deal for the United States because it gave a competitive economic edge to other nations, especially China. A majority of Americans think he was wrong, but more would disagree if he got lost in the complexities of the science. I speak from experience having taught a Science credit course for 25 years for the student population that mirrors society with 80 percent of them being Arts students. Promoters of what is called anthropogenic global warming (AGW) knew most people do not understand the science and exploited it.

The plants need more atmospheric CO2 not less. Current levels of 400 parts per million (ppm) are close to the lowest levels in 600 million years. This contradicts what the world was told by people using the claim that human production of  CO2 was causing global warming. They don’t know the UN agency, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), established to examine human-caused global warming, were limited to only studying human causes by the definition they were given by Article 1 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It is impossible to identify the human cause without understanding and including natural causes. Few know that CO2 is only 4 percent of the total greenhouse gases. They assume that a CO2 increase causes a temperature increase. It doesn’t, in every record the temperature increases before CO2. The only place where a CO2 increase causes a temperature increase is in the computer models of the IPCC.

The Club of Rome (COR), formed in 1968, decided that the world was overpopulated and expanded the Malthusian idea that the population would outgrow the food supply to all resources, especially the developed nations. COR member Maurice Strong told Elaine Dewar in her book Cloak of Green that the problem for the planet were the industrialized nations and it was everybody’s duty to shut them down. Dewar asked Strong if he planned to seek political office. He effectively said you cannot do anything as a politician, so he was going to the UN because:

He could raise his own money from whomever he liked, appoint anyone he wanted, control the agenda.

After five days with him at the UN she concluded:

Strong was using the U.N. as a platform to sell a global environment crisis and the Global Governance Agenda.

He created the crisis that the by-product of industry was causing global warming. Even Obama claimed that 97 percent of scientists agree. If he checked the source of the information, he would find the research was completely concocted. It is more likely that 97 percent of scientists never read the IPCC Reports. Those who do express their concern in very blunt terms. Consider German meteorologist and physicist Klaus-Eckart Puls experience.

“Ten years ago, I simply parroted what the IPCC told us. One day I started checking the facts and data – first I started with a sense of doubt but then I became outraged when I discovered that much of what the IPCC and the media were telling us was sheer nonsense and was not even supported by any scientific facts and measurements. To this day, I still feel shame that as a scientist I made presentations of their science without first checking it.”

He discovered what I exposed publicly for years. My challenge to the government version of global warming became increasingly problematic. They couldn’t say I wasn’t qualified. Attacks include death threats, false information about my qualifications posted on the Internet, and three lawsuits from IPCC members. Most people can’t believe that such things occur about opinions in a democratic society. Test the idea by telling people that you don’t accept the human-caused global warming idea. The reaction from most, who know nothing about the science, will invariably be dismissive at best.

I documented what went on in a detailed, fully referenced, book titled The Deliberate Corruption of Climate Science. A lawyer commented that it lays out and effectively supports the case, however, it was “a tough slog.” I recently published a brief ‘non-slog’ handbook (100 pages) for the majority of people, not to insult their intelligence, but to help them understand the science and its misuse for a political agenda.  Titled, Human Caused Global Warming: The Biggest Deception in History. It provides the motive and method for the corruption of science to substantiate and bolster Trump’s decision.

The Muslim Brotherhood’s strategic 30-year plan for taking over America from within was a closely-guarded secret until the FBI raided a house in Annandale, Virginia, where agents found a disturbing bundle of documents containing a blueprint for the Muslim takeover of our country. Now that the cat is out of the bag, we must do everything in our power to expose what’s going on, as startlingly, these American-hating vermin are in the final phase of their 5-step plan to destroy our country.

Twenty-seven years ago, Muslim Brotherhood leader Yusuf al-Qaradwai traveled to America to organize Muslims across America, educating them with his diabolical plan for the compete Muslim takeover of America that would take 30 years to complete. It included a key tactic known as “Muruna,” where Muslims are able to violate Sharia Law in order to convince Americans that they are just like us. Just like an Ebola virus, Muruna is extremely effective, as Muslims are now able to seamlessly integrate into every facet of our society, as they make their way into our public school systems,  our federal and law enforcement agencies, and key positions within our government.

But due to the raid, their game is up. Now that their highly-guarded secrets are out, we as Americans must stand up and expose what’s going on, while doing everything in our power to stop their rapidly approaching plans from coming to fruition.

While the Muslim Brotherhood in America would love for everyone to believe they’re just a peace-loving group of Islamists, nothing could be further from the truth. Their recently-discovered plans for America is highly chilling, where documents reveal what’s called a “civilization-jihadist” process, where American Muslims are actively destroying western civilization from within, as they seek to make Islam recognized in our courts and schools, bullying their way with political correctness which has proven to be a highly-effective tool. It also succeeded in achieving a great deal of its important goals, such as infiltrating various sectors of the Government. Gaining religious institutions and embracing senior scholars. Gaining public support and sympathy. Establishing a shadow government (secret) within the Government.

“Phase Three: Escalation phase, prior to conflict and confrontation with the rulers, through utilizing mass media. Currently in progress.

“Phase Four: Open public confrontation with the Government through exercising the political pressure approach. It is aggressively implementing the above-mentioned approach. Training on the use of weapons domestically and overseas in anticipation of zero-hour. It has noticeable activities in this regard.

“Phase Five: Seizing power to establish their Islamic Nation under which all parties and Islamic groups are united.”

While that is their general overall plan, the document that was seized in the raid reveals a chilling insight into their operations, mindset, planning, and vision of the Islamic movement rapidly taking over North America.

Pentagon Rolls Back Obama Transgender Order

Expect even more liberal hysteria now that that Pentagon has reportedly delayed a controversial order by former President Barack Obama that would have allowed transgender applicants to begin serving in the military this summer.


Sources confirmed to the Military Times that the July 1 deadline has been indefinitely delayed “as senior leaders within each of the services voice lingering concerns about the Obama-era policy intended to end discrimination but dismissed by critics as social experimentation.”

Leaders worry over the funding required to implementing a transgender-friendly military where biological sex would mean absolutely nothing. The military would have “to retrofit group showers and make other unspecified accommodations within communal living spaces,” for instance.
 
Some might argue that taxpayer funds should be spent on more pertinent issues, such as purchasing better equipment for our men and women in uniform.

As it stands, an estimated 7,000 transgender troops already serve in the military’s active-duty force, but aren’t currently being provided preferential treatment of any kind.
The greatest concern is that catering to those with gender-related delusions will negatively impact the military’s readiness. A study performed last year by the RAND Corporation on behalf of the Pentagon found that some “transgender troops would have ‘reduced deployability’ due to gender transition treatment,” according to USA Today.
The fact that transgender soldiers are even allowed to pursue “gender transition treatment” while serving in the military is even more disconcerting.

Question: Is the military designed to serve as a personal playground for the disturbed, or as a cohesive fighting unit?
Because if it’s designed for the latter, then there’s no valid reason on Earth that so-called “transgender” men and women should be allowed to pursue their personal delusions of grandeur while in service of the military.

Taliban rapes young men and blackmails them to carry out terror acts, says former fighter

A former Taliban fighter has revealed that the Islamic terror group has been raping young men and filming the acts on camera in order to blackmail them into carrying out terror attacks.

A young Taliban fighter who goes by the name of Haibatullah, who was captured by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) Special Forces, detailed his experience with the jihadist group in an interview with Fox News.

Haibatullah recounted that a friend convinced him to travel to the Pakistan border city of Quetta, which is known to be a haven for Taliban members, to become one of the group's fighters.

"He said that the Americans and foreigners do whatever they want to our country. And we must fight the foreigners," he said, recounting how his friend managed to convince him.

 For two months, he was trained to use guns and other weapons, and he was taught to recite Quranic verses to convince him that it was "mandatory to use jihad against foreigners" and "fight the infidels."


When a mullah ordered him to prepare to be a suicide bomber, Haibatullah refused, claiming that he "was not ready." He said that he was repeatedly told to engage in sexual acts with the mullah, but he declined.

One day, he woke up in a state of confusion and excruciating pain, with his legs covered in blood, some time after he was called by the mullah.

"After that," he narrated "He told me that he filmed the rape and if I didn't follow his orders and bomb myself, he would reveal the tape," he went on to say.

Haibatullah, who was 17 at the time, said that he was raped two more times after that. He noted that the mullah had called his parents to inform them that he has joined the Taliban. The young man suspects that others have also been drugged and raped, but none of them had disclosed their stories to the public.

An NDS official said that Haibatullah's story is almost certainly true and not unique. He noted that the Taliban has been drugging victims and filming their rapes in order to blackmail them into committing terrorist acts.

The official said that the mullahs generally separate the "most vulnerable minds" for such acts, and that they also saw an increase on detainees who have been injected with large amounts of human growth hormone.

In November, Haibatullah received an order to attack the German Consulate in the northern province of Mazar-e-Sharif. Twenty civilians died and more than 120 were injured in the attack, but no members of the German Consulate staff were harmed.

Haibatullah said that he is still not sure whether having Americans and other NATO forces in Afghanistan is a "good or bad thing," but he now realized that his acts in Mazar-e-Shariff was a mistake. "I am 100 percent regretful," he said.
The young man is currently awaiting trial and will be transferred to another detention facility. An NDS official has noted that terrorists who are found guilty typically receives anything from a 20-year sentence to life imprisonment or even execution, depending on their crimes.

The Taliban and the Islamic State have used similar tactics when it comes to forcing people into jihad. ISIS is known for indoctrinating young children with radical ideology and training them to carry out shootings and beheadings.

The woman said she was asleep at her family home in Rajanpur, in the country's central Punjab province, when the attack happened.

She reported the crime to the local panchayat, a tribal court that operates outside the official justice system in remote areas of the country, but was told she had intentionally seduced her attacke

The panchayat, which included the alleged rapist's father, then found her guilty of adultery and declared her a Kari, or adulteress, the Express Tribune reports.

 

As a result the teen was sentenced to death by stoning or to be sold off, according to the Hindustan Times and Tribune.

 

The council decided no action needed to be taken against the alleged rapist. 

The following day the woman and her father went to the police, who have now launched an official investigation.

An arrest warrant has now been issued for the members of the tribal council, and the woman taken to a refuge away from the village.

Women declared Kari are often executed by their own family in so-called honour killings to restore their reputation.

Another warrant has also been issued for the alleged rapist, local media reports.

The woman went to police near her home of Rajanpur, in Punjab, following the ruling. Officers have now issued arrest warrants for the elders and the alleged rapist, and she is in a refuge

These 4 Kids Put A Twist On A Classic Hymn And It’s Nothing Like Anyone’s Heard Before.

It has been reported that before his death, Leonard Cohen commented on the public embrace of his most famous song, “Hallelujah”. He actually asked people to stop covering the hymn, which has been sung by countless artists, completely unknown and incredibly famous. Everyone from Bon Jovi and Celine Dion to Paramore and Regina Spektor have performed the recognizable song.

Maybe no one heard him, but people continue to cover “Hallelujah” and those performances have only increased following Cohen’s death. I have to admit that I love the song, and despite his request, I would be disappointed if people stopped playing and sharing this amazing, touching tune.

I can’t help but think that despite his reservations, there are some covers of the song that Cohen would appreciate and maybe even like. Performances like the one in this video, for instance. I have heard dozens of covers of the song, but none quite like this.

Four young Russians performed “Hallelujah” on the Russian version of the television reality singing competition “The Voice”. Perhaps it feels so unique to me because they are singing in Russian, a language I don’t understand. But, I don’t really think that’s it at all. I don’t need to understand the words that they are singing because I know all of the words by heart.

But, this group brings all of the emotion to the song that it needs to be felt and understood. When Cohen himself performed the song with only his voice, you could feel the lyrics and the song. These four kids have recreated that. Not only are their voices and harmonies flawless, they seem to have an understanding of the song that is well beyond their young years. I have goosebumps!

New Jersey town forced to pay $3.25 million to mosque

The price of not caving to Islamic demands. Not only is this town forced to pay 3.25 million dollars to the Muslim Brotherhood-tied group, but the rabat is going to be built. The Islamic society in New Jersey is allowed to move forward with plans to build a mosque, and the town that had denied it permission will pay $3.25 million, as the result of settlements finalized Tuesday in two federal lawsuits. The opposition is not to the mosque per se, but to mega-structures going up on small, residential streets obliterating the quality of life and tranquility of residential living. This is an Islamic pattern we see time and time again, in Sheepshead Bay, DuPage, Alexandria, Murfreesboro, Shelby County,  Temecula, Bloomington, Pittsfield Township, and now Bernards Township.

Obama’s Department of Justice sued this sleepy, little town for rejected a massive mosque proposal.

 Islamic supremacists and Muslim Brotherhood organizations such as CAIR called upon their running dogs in Obama’s Department of Justice to impose the sharia and usurp American law for Islamic law. What small town can go up against the U.S. government’s vast resources and endless taxpayer-funded muscle? President Obama’s lawless administration allowed the rampant construction of rabats and jihad recruitment centers at a time when we should be monitoring the mosques and restricting construction of Muslim Brotherhood beachheads and Islamic State madrassas.

This is further exploitation of the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA) a well intended but much abused tool for Islamic supremacists. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.  It is time to repeal RLUIPA. It has long been abused by Islamic supremacist groups to construct beachheads, mega mosques tied to jihadist groups in small tiny neighborhoods.

Millions of Muslims come to Western countries with a ready-made model of society and government, and establish parallel societies based on Islamic law. Back in 1999, the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA) provided enhanced religious liberty protections in two specific situations: the use of land for religious purposes and religious liberty claims by prisoners passed. RLUIPA gives churches and other religious institutions “a way to avoid burdensome zoning law restrictions on their property use.” Ironically, it was legislation largely backed by Republicans, and was meant to scale back on the enormous implications of previous legislation passed under “Religious Freedom Restoration Act” during the Clinton administration. Like most legislation the government passes, the law of unintended consequences comes back to haunt us in spades. The original intent behind the “Religious Freedom Restoration Act,” while applied to all religions,  was  “most pertinent to Native American religions that are burdened by increasing expansion of government projects onto sacred land. In Native American religion the land they worship on is very important. Often the particular ceremonies can only take place in certain locations because these locations have special significance.”
By introducing this religious accommodation into law, the Republicans paved the way for the Islamic supremacists to destroy our freedoms and individual rights. The genie is out of the bottle, but RLUIPA ought to be repealed.

In passing these sweeping laws there was concern that  “while intended to safeguard the core constitutional principle of religious liberty, could undermine another fundamental constitutional concern, that of ensuring equal protection under the law.” Well, it has and it did. Religious liberty for all? What if a religion is supremacist is steamrolls over the rights of non-believers, oppresses women, calls for the annihilation of Christians and Jews ….”

(CNN)An Islamic society in New Jersey is allowed to move forward with plans to build a mosque, and the town that had denied it permission will pay $3.25 million, as the result of settlements finalized Tuesday in two federal lawsuits.

The two lawsuits were the latest in a nearly four-year dispute between the Islamic Society of Basking Ridge and Bernards Township, New Jersey, which had denied zoning approval for the Islamic society to build a mosque. It would have been the first and only mosque in the town, and the society bought the proposed mosque site because zoning of the land permitted houses of worship, according to court documents.
In March 2016, the Islamic society sued the town. The Department of Justice filed suit against Bernards Township in November. Monday’s settlements resolve both lawsuits, according to court documents.
“Federal law requires towns to treat religious land use applications like any other land use application,” acting US Attorney for New Jersey William E. Fitzpatrick said in a statement. “Bernards Township made decisions that treated the Islamic Society of Basking Ridge differently than other houses of worship. The settlement announced today corrects those decisions and ensures that members of this religious community have the same ability to practice their faith as all other religions.”
The DOJ’s complaint alleged the township denied the application to build a mosque using standards it had not applied to other religious and nonreligious groups in the past.
The complaint also alleged that while the Islamic society’s application was pending, the township revised its zoning code so the Islamic society application couldn’t meet the requirements.
The complaints also detailed reports of intimidation and harassment in the community, noting that “fliers, social media and websites denounced the mosque and were filled with anti-Muslim bigotry and references to terrorism and the 9/11 attacks,” according to court documents.
Michael Turner, spokesman for Bernards Township, said in a statement the township had entered the settlement on the advice of counsel as “represents the most effective path forward” and that the planning board’s rejection of the Islamic society’s application to build a mosque was always based on accepted land use criteria and was never discriminatory.
“The settlement agreement addresses the land use concerns of the planning board and incorporates conditions previously agreed upon by the ISBR and the planning board during the application process and deliberations,” Turner said, “Bernards Township is a diverse and inclusive community, where for years the ISBR congregation have practiced their religion along with their neighbors unimpeded, using township facilities at the Bernards Township Community Center and at Dunham Park.”
“We are very pleased by this resolution and hope to receive prompt approval to build our mosque,” said Dr. Mohammed Ali Chaudry, the named plaintiff in the lawsuit and president of the Islamic society. “We look forward to welcoming people of all faiths and backgrounds to our mosque. Our doors will be open to anyone interested in building bridges to promote harmony in the community and peace in the world.”
Chaudry is an economist who has lived with his family in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township nearly 40 years since he emigrated from Pakistan, and has served on the Bernards Township board of education and as mayor of the town, according to the complaint.

The Islamic society first submitted its building application in 2012, according to court records. In December 2015, after 39 public hearings — more than for any previous site plan application, the DOJ said — the planning board voted to deny the application.

“Municipalities around the country should pay close attention to what happened in Bernards Township,” Adeel Mangi, the lawyer who represented the Islamic society, said in a statement. “The American Muslim community has the legal resources, the allies, and the determination to stand up for its constitutional rights in court and will do so.”

The Bernards Township mosque is one of several cases in recent years in which local officials have been accused of using zoning laws to keep Muslims from building community centers or houses of worship. Mosque projects also faced opposition in Bayonne, New Jersey; Sterling Heights, Michigan; Wayne, New Jersey; and Henrico, Virginia.

Thirteen people have been apprehended in Pakistan for reportedly participating in the vicious honor killing of a 16-year-old girl.

The teenager was burned alive on April 29 in the village of Donga Gali, about 30 miles northeast of Pakistan's capital city, Islamabad, according to Reuters. A group of 15 members of a local tribal council, called a jirga, allegedly participated in the killing in retaliation for the girl's role in helping a couple from the nearby village of Makol elope.

The victim, only known as Ambreen, was taken from her home to an abandoned home where she was drugged and placed unconscious in the backseat of a parked van. Her hands were reportedly tied to the seats to prevent escapeIt turns out President Trump's budget has $2 trillion error in it:

The teen's burned body was found by authorities last week. District police arrested 13 of the 15 individuals involved in the killing May 5.

The 13 people arrested, which include the victim's mother and brother, will be tried in an Anti-Terrorism Court.

Two weeks ago, Ambreen assisted a local couple elope and leave Makol for the Pakistani city of Abottabad. When the members of the jirga realized the couple was missing, they called a 6-hour meeting April 28, during which they agreed to kill the girl as punishment for damaging the village's reputation.

A failure of imagination" is how some experts described the intelligence community's inability to foresee and interrupt the 9/11 plot. But it might as well describe America's apparent disinterest in preparing for a potentially bigger threat - an EMP, or electromagnetic pulse, a nuclear capability that North Korea is believed to be pursuing.

An EMP is a short burst of electromagnetic energy, specifically gamma rays, that all nuclear explosions produce to varying degrees. A large EMP triggered over the United States from a ballistic missile or a satellite orbiting at the right altitude could fry unprotected electronics from coast to coast, rendering electric grids, cellphones, banking and financial institutions, automobile computers, railways, air traffic control, and airplanes themselves, useless. Food would rot in refrigerators and in farm fields, with no means of transporting agricultural products to population centers.

But for all the Mad Max predictions that a EMP strike would cause, there are some who dismiss the threat.

"It's not real and it's something out of a James Bond movie," says John Tierney, the executive director at the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation. "The general consensus is it's not a real threat imminent by any stretch of the imagination."

Dr. Peter Vincent Pry, chief of staff for the Congressional EMP Commission, vehemently rejects that assessment. "We're constantly cleaning up after these guys," he said.

"We have information, data from actual high altitude nuclear detonations that were conducted by us and the Russians back in the 1961-62 time frame, that did things like knock the lights out in Hawaii," Pry said. "But most dramatically what the Russians did when they triggered a series of high altitude EMP tests that destroyed electric grids and critical infrastructure at Kazakhstan, then an industrial area, an area larger than Western Europe."

Pry describes what he calls a nuclear "taboo" that allows the United States and many of its Western allies to cavalierly dismiss the threat.

"In the West, we have for generations believed that a nuclear war would be unthinkable. And for Western democracies, that is understandable, because democratic states derive their legitimacy from the people," he said.

"But for totalitarian and authoritarian states, where a nation would be willing to sacrifice itself for an ideology, in the case of Iran or North Korea, the use of nuclear weapons is not unthinkable. In their open source military doctrine, they've written for years about being able to win a nuclear war,” Pry said.

Adding to EMP worries -- North Korea's recent successful test of a solid-fueled ballistic missile. Solid fuel missiles need less preparation, meaning less warning time for those targeted.

In addition, North Korea has at least two observation or weather satellites whose orbits take them routinely over the U.S., at precisely the altitude that is ideal for an EMP attack.

For at least 15 years, Congress has struggled with many bills designed to harden the nations electric grid against an EMP attack. But none have made it out of committee. Special interests often intervene, fearful of the cost that hardening the electric grid would impose on utility customers, a fear heightened by the ongoing dispute over whether an EMP attack would be as destructive as hardening proponents proclaim.

The Maute group confronting the Philippine army in Marawi City is no longer considered a local terrorist organization as it has been reinforced by jihadists of Malaysian, Indonesian and “other nationalities,” the country’s authorities have announced. 

“Before it was just a local terrorist group. But now they have subscribed to the ideology of ISIS. They want to make Mindanao as part of the caliphate,” Solicitor General Jose Calida told a news conference, according to Reuters.

He added that Indonesians and Malaysians are among the Islamist radicals who are fighting the army. Meanwhile, an army spokesman said six foreigners were killed in Mindanao on Thursday, including militants of Malaysian, Indonesian and "other nationalities."

“What’s happening in Mindanao is no longer a rebellion of Filipino citizens” but “has transmogrified into an invasion by foreign terrorists who heeded the clarion call of the ISIS to go to the Philippines if they find difficulty in going to Iraq or Syria,” Calida added, as cited by InterAksyon news.

On Thursday, Philippines’ Western Mindanao Command (WESMINCOM) announced that, since Tuesday, at least 31 fighters of the IS-linked Maute group were killed in

“As of this report, 31 terrorists were already neutralized and 6 high-powered firearms were recovered by the troops,” said Brig. Gen. Rolly Bautista, head of Joint Task Force ZamPeLan.

At least 13 government troops and police officers lost their lives since Tuesday.

“Our troops are doing deliberate operations in areas we believe are still occupied or infested with the terrorists’ presence. I specifically ordered our soldiers to locate and destroy these terrorists as soon as possible,” Bautista added.
On Tuesday night, President Rodrigo Duterte placed the entire island of Mindanao under martial law for 60 days after battles between government troops and the Maute in Marawi escalated. On Wednesday, Duterte warned that he will not hesitate to declare martial law throughout the entire country if terrorism spills beyond Mindanao.

Iraqi Kurdistan’s independence from Baghdad appears to be only a matter of time, presenting a tremendous challenge to Iraq’s future, according to the head of the US Defense Intelligence Agency.




Once Mosul is liberated and the Islamist ‘caliphate’ defeated, the widening rift between Iraq’s Shiite Arab majority and Kurds will still be there, Steward noted.

“Once ISIS is defeated in Mosul, the greatest challenge to the Iraqi government is to reconcile the differences between the Shia-dominated government, the Sunnis out west, and the Kurds to the north,” said the chief of military intelligence.
Iraqi Kurdistan has long sought to secede from Iraq, arguing that the Kurds have an inherent right to self-determination after suffering decades under the heavy-handed rule of Saddam Hussein and his predecessors. Led by long-time Kurdish leader and president of Iraqi Kurdistan, Masoud Barzani, the autonomous region’s political parties have worked out a roadmap for a future referendum on Kurdish independence.

Kurds, the leaders say, have their own ethnic identity, which does not fit in well in present war-torn Iraq. “We are not Arabs, we are our own Kurdish nation... At some point, there will be a referendum on the independence of Kurdistan, and then we will let the people decide,” Iraqi Kurdistan’s prime minister (and the president’s nephew), Nechervan Idris Barzani, told German Bild newspaper last October.
In the meantime, Iraqi Kurdistan’s president maintains that Iraq has no future as a viable entity. In early March, he predicted that Iraq faces the prospect of being split into two or more independent states, following the example of Czechoslovakia – a former socialist country that split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 1993.

On the other hand, the Iraqi government says the secession is not in Kurdistan’s best interests.

In neighboring Turkey, Kurdish communities are being subjected to a government crackdown sometimes involving armed force. Meanwhile, Syrian Kurds are now fighting Islamic State after seeing their people mass murdered in areas previously controlled by jihadists.

Iraqi Kurdistan has its own military, known as Peshmerga, which prevented Islamic State militants from capturing the oil-rich region of Kirkuk in 2014. The Kurds have long claimed sovereignty over Kirkuk, which is also inhabited by Turkomans and Arabs.

The autonomous region is determined to build up its military capabilities in a bid to become a sustainable independent state. On Monday, a Peshmerga official told Kurdistan24 news outlet that Kurdish leaders are considering the purchase of combat aircraft to establish a Kurdish airforce.
“Resolving the Kirkuk oil field and the revenues associated with the oil fields, resolving the ownership of the city of Kirkuk, will be significant political challenges for the Iraqi government,” General Stewart said, warning that Baghdad will face dire consequences if it fails to come to terms with the Kurds.

 “Failure to address those challenges, coming up with a political solution, will ultimately result in conflict among all of the parties to resolve this and going back to what could devolve into a civil strife in Iraq,” the DIA head said.
