Rio Grande Valley, TX – Investigators have charged a 29-year-old man with sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl at a New Year’s Day party in Primera.
Witnesses told police 29-year-old Ivan Trevino attended a party Friday night on Alonzo Road. During the party, relatives realized a 5-year-old girl had vanished, according to information provided by Primera police Chief Manuel Trevino.
Relatives searched the property and eventually found Ivan Trevino and the 5-year-old girl in a dark area.
When relatives questioned Ivan about why he lured the girl away from the party, Ivan Trevino started showing signs of nervousness, according to police. The girl said Ivan Trevino assaulted her.
“One of the family members became upset and assaulted Ivan,” according to police. “Ivan then fled the area.”
Police later located Ivan Trevino hiding underneath a nearby mobile home.
Investigators charged Ivan Trevino with aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony, according to Cameron County jail records. Municipal Judge Ruben Ochoa set bond at $15,000.
Ivan Trevino isn’t legally present in the United States, according to police.
