BAM! Ice Cube DESTROYS Black Protest Of Oscars With Some Ice Cold Common Sense

Ice Cube has been a successful rapper, movie star, and businessman for a very, very long time now. Not to mention that this year he released Straight Outta Compton, a hit biopic about his time in the historic rap group N.W.A. that grossed over $200 million worldwide.

The first thing the media mogul said was,

“You can’t boycott something that you never used to go to anyway. I look at it like a horse race. Once your horse loses the race, you tear up your ticket and back on out.”
That makes perfect sense. It is pure bitterness for people like Will Smith. However, his next statement is the one that really struck a nerve with me:
“We don’t do movies for the industry. We do movies for the fans, for the people. And the industry, you know, if they give you a trophy or not or pat you on the back or not, it’s nice but its not something that you should dwell on. We got accolades from all levels, from our core fans to our curious fans, from people who didn’t even think they wanted to see that movie. I think an older generation got an understanding on why we did that kind of music and the younger generation got a history lesson, and we got so much praise for the movie.”
There you go! Movies should be for the fans, not the academy. Some of the best people in film, like J.J. Abrams and Quentin Tarantino for example, never concern themselves with stupid awards when instead they can make movies that people worldwide will love (and not to mention they gross BILLIONS).

I mean sure, the Academy is very biased and that should change, but that doesn’t mean it’s racist or you should make it seem that way. They are simply a country club and won’t let anyone else in. Also, who the hell cares about the Oscars. Star Wars Episode 7 was way better than The Revenant anyways.
