Tom Selleck plays Frank Reagan, the chief of police, in the popular show Blue Bloods. In a recent episode titled “Flags of Our Fathers” Selleck’s character meets a radical liberal named David Gore. Gore wants to organize a protest at a veteran’s funeral service, where he plans to burn the American flag. Selleck, as Reagan, tries to talk Gore out of burning the flag by telling him he will lose those who sympathize with his message and saying, “only a fool seeks peace by inciting violence.”
Liberal Gore ignores Reagan and proceeds with his protest. As the show progresses the audience sees that Reagan was right. Gore’s flag burning incites a riot, and Gore loses his supporters. Instead of admitting that he was in the wrong, Gore attacks Reagan by saying the police weren’t protecting him as their duty demands. Reagan doesn’t take this lying down, and instead he firmly tells him the police did their jobs. Gore is furious and tells Reagan he is planning another flag-burning protest. Reagan responds with this, “That flag, that you consider a prop and a stunt, has draped the coffins of Americans who died to give you the right to ignore that sacrifice… You’re spitting on their graves.”
Unfortunately, this is more than just a television drama. Protests like these take place all across the country. Thankfully there are people like Tom Selleck who are brave enough to stand up to liberal Hollywood when it counts. Share your thoughts in the comments!
