Our leaders refuse to name the enemy, much less fight the war. Our southern border is not protected and secured. Our military has been diminished and undercut. We’re admitting tens of thousands (soon to be hundreds of thousands) of people who embrace an ideology that is at direct odds with our Constitution and our very lives. Our presence on the world stage has receded to a dangerous level where we abandon our allies, align with the enemy, and let evil flourish.
And that’s the short list.
So what is our national security policy at this point, particularly with respect to the Islamic advance?
As far as I can tell, it’s comprised of luck. And water.
Luck
We’ve all been lucky. Our lives have not been snuffed out by Islamic blades, bullets, or bombs.
We weren’t at the World Trade Center in 1993. Nor were we there in 2001 or on any of the planes jihadists crashed
We weren’t at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. We weren’t at Ford Hood or at either of the military installations in Tennessee or at a recruiting center in Arkansas when Islamic terror struck.
We weren’t at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California. We weren’t an employee at a food distribution center in Moore, Oklahoma or a student in West Orange, New Jersey. Nor were we Coptic Christians in the same state.
We weren’t a parent praying at a church in Ohio, a store clerk in California, or a professor in upstate New York. We weren’t in Virginia pumping gas or in a Home Depot parking lot.
We weren’t Jews in Massachusetts, Washington, New York, Maryland, Texas, or at the ticket counter of an Israeli airline at Los Angeles International Airport.
Devout Muslims have been attacking Americans both here, and abroad, dating back to the 18th century with the Barbary pirates. All told, thousands of Americans have died in the name of Allah and countless more have been injured, some permanently. In the post-9/11 years alone, there have been almost 50 attacks by Islamic terrorists that have killed nearly 100 Americans. (And that doesn’t take into account the vast number of devout Muslims who have lent material support to terror or the number of plots the FBI intercepts on a near-daily basis at this point.)
The common thread that weaves through this 1400-year war is that when Islamic terror strikes, any non-Muslim is a potential target. If the aim narrows, the Quran reserves a special hate for Jews.
So it is by sheer chance that none of us have felt the long reach of jihad come deadly close as our government has put us in the line of fire with policies that not only fail to protect us, but which put us at increased risk. We have a government that, among other things, has a man-child at the helm who, a few years ago, said: “We can absorb a terrorist attack. We’ll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever…we absorbed it and we are stronger.”
Apparently, if some Americans must lose their limbs or lose their lives, well, we’re so much stronger because of it. (As long as none of those Americans are members of the Washington elite or President Obama’s family, I presume.)
I’d say Obama’s remark was disgusting, glib, insane, disrespectful, and arrogant, but those words wouldn’t even come close to describing it. His abject evil challenges the limits of the English language when searching for ways to describe his words and deeds.
And so, national security in America has, as its centerpiece: luck. Water is, by virtue of geography, the second factor.
Water
Although we have massive problems with our unprotected southern border, if not for the Atlantic Ocean, we’d look like Europe by now – overrun by Muslim colonizers seeking to expand the Caliphate and assert the 3-choice option that is central to Islamic supremacy: convert, pay the jizya tax, or die.
But we’ve been blessed by geography, which has helped to slow the hijra that is unfolding, though we still have our hands full in the form of the Muslim Brotherhood and all of their hideous front groups with their neatly dressed, well groomed, soft-spoken taqiyya-talking spokesmen and women.
And we’ve got thousands of mosques, most of which preach jihad in one form or another. And Islamic schools that preach hate. And Muslims of America terror training compounds. And Muslim prison converts. And the media and our schools and the left and many on the right that whitewash Islam and undermine our safety.
But still. The Atlantic Ocean has been a bit of a help in ensuring that we don’t look like Europe. Yet. Though at the rate we’re going, it’s only a matter of time because we’re headed down the same path.
And as blessed as we have been by the Atlantic Ocean, in the 21st century this natural barrier is becoming increasingly irrelevant. Obama’s flying Muslims from Islamic countries here as fast as he can. Terrorists, not-yet-but-soon-to-be-jihadists, and people who embrace an ideology at odds with modern, civilized society will be on those flights.
And then there is Iran, testing the literal waters as they send war ships across the Atlantic.
The world is shrinking. Geography no longer affords the level of protection it once did. And luck is running out.
