After several days of media attention and public humiliation
following his decision to sit during the national anthem of a pre-season
game, San Francisco 49’ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has reportedly
been found dead in his upscale Alameda County home.
Rumors of the quarterback’s death began circulating early Tuesday
morning, and a coroner’s van was seen outside the Kaepernick estate,
according to sources on the ground.
While foul play is not suspected, it is reported that two guns and a large amount of narcotics were retrieved from the scene.
Kaepernick has faced an avalanche of public scrutiny and humiliation
since his refusal to stand for the national anthem during a 49’ers
pre-season game on Saturday.
Kaepernick, who has seen his football career spiral downwards in the
last 24 months, used the opportunity to protest police brutality and
alleged racial oppression of African-Americans in the United States.
While some celebrities and pundits have endorsed Kaepernick’s
decision, the majority of responses have been negative. Donald Trump,
the Republican presidential candidate, said that the quarterback might
“want to find a new country,” and long-time 49’ers fans burned his
jersey in protest.
Channel 7 News reporters are currently en route to the scene, and we
will be bringing you more of this breaking story as it develops.
