SMACKDOWN: U.S. Marine has BEST response yet to college protesters

Witnessing the so-called Million Student March — the on-campus protests sweeping the nation this week, in which students are demanding tuition-free public colleges, cancellation of all student debt and a $15-an-hour minimum wage for campus workers — you realize we’re watching the fruits of the participation trophy generations. Entitled, out-of-touch-with-reality students self-righteously making demands, with no concept of how to realistically make those possible; they’re just like the two-year-old throwing a tantrum and looking to his parents to respond. And even as they’re out demonstrating their “toughness” by protesting, they’re complaining about lack of “safe spaces” and mere words that “trigger.”

It’s like we’re watching some crazy episode of ‘The Twilight Zone,’ where the inmates are running the asylum.

So it’s heartening to remember there are still bastions of sanity and institutions that continue to instill responsibility and toughness in young men and women. U.S. Marine turned entrepreneur James Erickson proves this point with his beautifully delivered Tweet:

So simple, right? And somehow these kids protesting on campus this week seem to have missed this critical concept: you work to fund the things you want to do.

Our culture has conspired to delay kids ascending into adulthood — and, by giving them trophies just for showing up, have robbed them of the concept that being exceptional requires exceptional investment of one’s self.

Kinda makes you want to consider raising the voting age, too, to allow some of these kids to mature and get some real-life experience before they start weighing in on our country’s future. Perhaps a stint in the service would do them good.
