We Were Soldiers: Sergeant Major Basil L. Plumley – Veteran of WWII, Korea & Vietnam

Basil L. Plumley was a soldier as well as an airborne combat infantryman in the US Army. He eventually reached the rank of Command Sergeant Major, from beginning as a Private. Plumley is most well-known for his actions whilst being Sergeant Major of the United States Army’s 1st battalion, the regiment of 7th Cavalry during the Battle of la Drang at Vietnam, 1965.

Lt. General Hal Moore, Plumley’s commander of the battalion during this battle praised Plumley as being ‘an outstanding NCO and leader’ in the book published in 1992 regarding this battle. This book was named ‘We Were Soldiers Once…And Young’. This book was later used to create the 2002 movie ‘We Were Soldiers’ where Sam Elliott played Plumley. Plumley’s soldiers affectionately called him ‘Old Iron Jaw’.

  

The Battle of la Drang was the very first major battle to occur between United States Army regulars and the People’s Army of Vietnam of North Vietnam’s regulars whilst partaking in the Vietnam War. This was a two-part battle, and it happened between the days of November 14th and November 18th, 1965. The location was two landing zones in South Vietnam, Central Highlands close to the la Drang River.

The initial battle consisted of an assault made by the North Vietnamese Army against the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry, as they landed at landing zone X-Ray. The Vietnamese were fought off following two full days and nights of fighting (November 14th-16th) with the United States Army inflicting great losses upon the North Vietnamese regulars, along with guerillas from the Viet Cong.

The second battle was a surprise attack from the North Vietnamese Army. On November 17th they overran the 2nd Battalion’s marching column (sister unit of 1st Battalion) near landing zone Albany. This resulted in being the most successful ambush to be carried out against United States forces in the War.

Both the United States and North Vietnam suffered heavy casualties; the United States lost almost 250 troops but were said to have counted 1,000 (approximate) North Vietnamese dead on the battlefield, and guessed, even more, were fatally wounded by artillery and air strikes.

  

In the movie adaption (2002) Sam Elliot played Plumley and Mel Gibson played Hal Moore. Galloway, a reporter from the War, said of the film that one-liners made by Elliott were things that Plumley actually said in real-life; for example, the scene where a soldier greets him with a ‘good morning’ and his retort is ‘who made you the (expletive) weather man.’

Galloway states ‘Sam Elliott underplayed him. He was actually tougher than that. He was gruff, monosyllabic, an absolute terror when it came to enforcing standards of training.’

Plumley joined the United States Army on March 31st, 1942, as a private. He was part of the 82nd Airborne Division and made four combat jumps at Salerno, Sicily, Normandy (on D-Day) and the Netherlands (in Operation Market Garden). He also took part in the famed Battle of the Bulge.

He was awarded a variety of decorations and adorned Master Parachutist wings that had a gold star, this signified the five combat jumps he’d made. The fifth combat jump was one made in Korea, with the 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment.

Plumley retired from being command sergeant major on December 31st, 1974 after being awarded a further 28 awards and decorations (for the time in the unit, on campaigns and personal service). This brought his count up to 40 awards/decorations for his 33 years (or close to) of service in the military, which spanned World War 2, the Korean War and finally the Vietnam War.

Following his retirement, he opted to stay in the Army’s employ as a civilian doing administration for the next 15 years at Martin Army Community Hospital and other various medical buildings in the area of Fort Benning, Georgia. He fully retired in 1990 and passed away on October 10th, 2012 at Columbus Hospice, Georgia of cancer.

In war, standing and fighting in an unfavorable battle is certainly the brave and honorable choice, but it isn’t always the best choice to actually win the war. Running away to regroup and fight again can be the best choice in the long term.

s, Bernie Sanders actually did hint at the government needing to regulate religious freedoms for the sake of fighting “racism, sexism, homophobia and other forms of discrimination.”

Bernie made the statement in a tweet that was sent out Friday that reads: “We cannot sanction racism, sexism, homophobia and other forms of discrimination under the guise of “religious freedom.”

Perhaps if liberals understood that while the bulk of Islam is made up of people who are just trying to live, Islam has a terrible record when it comes to honoring the rights of others. In much of the Islamic religion “rights” are not even a notion. So maybe if the Democrats really grasped the fact that there are gun classes and training being given at little or NO cost to radicals in a church somewhere in the world so that they can kill those who are not Islamic, likely THEN the left would awaken.

Well, if so, then the alarm clock is ringing because the above-mentioned scenario is not happening in another nation, but it is happening right here in America! In Florida, in a mosque as the left cries for churches to be gun free zones, CAIR-Florida Regional Operations Director Nezar Hamze has been very busy taking his gun teachings to the very people who are most likely to harm innocents.

The Society of Sarasota and Bradenton not only is anti-American (which is vile, but legal) but they support suicide bombers and their families. All of this must mean the gun training at the local Baptist Church is allowable too, right Democrats?

  Democrats are against guns in churches and yet they allow gun training in mosques tied to terror. These are the very people in some instances who do we don’t want to have guns.

True Constitutionalists do not have a problem with gun ownership being displayed anywhere since violence and a need to defend may arise anywhere, but when a group like CAIR (Center for American/Islamic Relations) Florida is been found to have supported outright Palestinian terrorism, questions need to be asked. HAMAS has murdered far more innocents in cold blood than any fanatic “on the right” who is always the target on the left, yet CAIR has brought HAMAS to downtown Miami in a nauseous show of support for a hate filled rally.

After the rally the leader Sofian Zakkout wrote, “Thank God, every day we conquer the American Jews like our conquests over the Jews of Israel!” When one looks at how Hamas defeats Jews it is seen that they don’t mean at the ballot box, but with the knife, the bomb, and the death of children. The N.R.A who the left detests never says such things after a rally.

The most sickening part is the Democrats keeps imploring voters to “be inclusive” and to elect people who are of differing faiths just to show how “inclusive” we all are. In this case, the voters did by electing a Muslim who is now going into mosques, teaching the use of guns to those who did not even seek the knowledge, and who is using his post as deputy sheriff to teach those in the congregation how to legally hide from law enforcement. It is perfectly legal to own guns and to avoid law enforcement detection.

  

Would Americas left be fine with the N.R.A. teaching gun lessons in a Christian church

It is perfectly legal to own guns and avoid law enforcement detection, that is not the point. The point is that we have a CAIR leader, with proven ties to terrorist groups, using his post with law enforcement to purposefully teach ways to a selection of people who are most likely to harm others due to their terrorist ties as well, and no one seems worried.

There are virtually no newspapers, magazines, talking heads, or even bloggers in their basements talking about Nezar Hamze at all.  Instead, CAIR is out trying to sue the government for stopping travel for 120 measly days and stopping travel from nations that even Democrat leftist Obama had deemed as terrorist supporting nations. CAIR want the terrorists here.

In the early 2000’s the group had been tied to Arafat and those that supported terror through him, even leading to arrests for giving material support to Al-Qaeda during a time that the United States was at its deepest with the war on terror. How many roadside bombs blew off our troop’s legs, how many lives were snuffed out by sniper fire, and how many innocents in even Muslim lands were raped or hurt because of this support? It must be understood that by funding Al-Qaeda, they were not just funding a differing point of view, but they were funding groups that were dead set on killing other Muslims, too.

  

Having guns in church may have prevented or limited recent church shootings, but such actions are never reasoned for by Democrats.

The ties to this group and the terrible things that they do go all the way back at least to the mid to late 1990’s. It is not outside of the realms of reason to deduce that these may have been some of the people who danced merrily as the towers fell and crushed 3000 people to death, Muslims included. CAIR never cares very much for the families of those slain by terrorists but only for the families of the terrorist who killed and maimed for Allah. They never care about the wounded who fight the butchers who have ruined the Middle East but instead have chosen to call such terrorists “heroes” who died bravely for their cause.

Their cause then is to turn the whole world Islamic and under the iron fist of sharia law. Oh, they may claim to be just “on of us” with a different religion and worldview, but this is not true in any fashion. The Koran openly says that forced coercion is to be used to make someone either convert or die. The Koran says to use every weapon against those that refuse to allow Islamic ways to rule without question. The Koran even says that it is allowable to lie and deceive one’s enemies to reach this goal. That means lying to get into office under the guise of acceptance and lying to get a gun into a church under the guise of law enforcement and safety. 

  Some of the most distasteful and evil things come from radical Islam. How long before this kind of person comes out of a U.S. mosque ready – and now taught – to kill? 

Now that America is politically correct to the point of suicide, each new accepted norm from Islam is like a game of Russian roulette with a lot more than one bullet in the chambers. The people pulling the trigger for us believe differently which is more than tolerable except for the grisly fact that “differently” means “against” in this instance. Radical Islam does not want to coexist, they do not want peace, and they do not want to get along with anyone. They want to march in the streets about how they hate freedom, America, and any non -radical persons.

They also want to teach likely shooters how to kill others from their pulpit.

The world has come a long way with regards to accepting this plant as a medicine rather than a harmful substance. It’s a plant that could benefit the planet in more ways than one. Cannabis is not something offered in the same regard as chemotherapy, but more people are becoming aware if it, which is why it’s so important to continue to spread information like this. Prisoner 4859 was a volunteer for Auschwitz. We will tell you his story, as others have tried to erase him from history. His heroism was largely unknown for 50 years, but he is truly a hero.

Witold Pilecki – codenames; Roman Jezierski, Tomasz Serafiński, Druh, Witold- – was a founder of the Secret Polish Army. He was born in Olonets, Karelia, northwest Russia, as a descendant of Polish patriots. He was raised in a patriotic manner as well. In 1914 he entered Scouting, which was then a forbidden organization, outlawed by the Russian State. In 1918 he sneaked into Poland, a country that just got back its independence after 123 years of occupation.

The Young 2nd Republic of Poland didn’t have much time to rest. In 1919 a Polish-Soviet War started and as an 18-year-old man, Pilecki had to defend his country. As a cavalryman, he participated in the Battle of Grodno, the Battle of Warsaw, and the Żeligowski’s Mutiny. For his actions during this war, he was awarded the Polish Cross of Valour, twice.

In 1921, when the war was over, he married and became the father of two children. He rebuilt his family estate and started painting as an amateur. Perhaps he thought his days of military service were over.

On September 1st, 1939, the Third Reich started World War II by invading Poland. The Polish Army was defeated in weeks, and the last battles fought by Pilecki’s unit were as a partisan unit. Pilecki, with two others soldiers, then founded the Secret Polish Army, one of the first underground organizations in Poland.

In 1940 Gestapo arrested a number of members of his resistance group and sent them to Auschwitz. Thanks to this Intel, this camp became a matter of interest to the whole organization. At this time, not much was known about German Concentration Camps.

He figured that if he was arrested, he would probably be incarcerated in Auschwitz. Pilecki presented the plan to his superiors to enter Auschwitz Concentration Camp, gather intelligence from the inside and organize inmate resistance. The others supported his plan, and it was decided.

On 19 September 1940, Pilecki deliberately let himself be caught during a German razzia in Warsaw, along with 2,000 other civilians. After two days of detention where prisoners were beaten and tortured, he was sent directly to Auschwitz Concentration Camp in Oświęcim.

As inmate 4859, despite bouts of stomach ailments, typhus and pneumonia, lice infestations, backbreaking toil hauling rocks, extremes of heat and cold, and relentless hunger and cruelties at the hands of German guards, he formed an underground resistance group, the Union of Military Organization.

The goals Union of the Military Organisation (ZOW) were:

• Keeping up the spirit and morale of inmates.
• Passing news from outside world to other inmates.
• Gathering food and clothes in secrecy and sharing it.
• Passing intelligence outside the KZ Auschwitz.
• Preparing divisions to take over the camp during a possible attack from the outside.

ZOW was designed as a system of groups of  ‘five.’ The first ‘five’ was the highest command of the organization. Members of ZOW had to earn an utter trust of Pilecki to be able to become part of the organization. Of course, the name ‘five’ wasn’t precisely, sometimes a single group had more members.

According to Pilecki’s, every ‘five’ had no idea about other groups and was convinced that they were the top of the entire organization. They developed on their own and built new branches of groups under their supervision, as far as they could.

ZOW provided the Polish underground with invaluable information about the camp. From October 1940, ZOW sent reports to Warsaw, and beginning in March 1941, Pilecki’s reports were forwarded via the Polish resistance to British Government in London.

 

Outside

Pilecki made contact with Home Army units a few days later. A month after his escape he reached Warsaw (200 miles from Oświęcim) and met the Home Army intelligence department. Yet the plan of attacking Auschwitz and capture it wouldn’t have been a success without help from the Allies. Pilecki’s detailed report estimated that, by March 1943, the number of people gassed would have reached 1.5 million.

The underground army in Poland didn’t have the numbers to attack the camp, so they asked the Soviets to participate in this action. However, the Russians showed no interest in joining forces with the Home Army and ZOW to liberate the camp.

On 23 February 1944, Pilecki was promoted to cavalry captain and joined the secret organization ‘NIE.’ Their goal was to prepare resistance against a possible Soviet occupation. History shows they were right, and after 1945 Poland would fall under Soviets rule. These ‘Cursed Soldiers’ were active to 1963 when the last known soldier was killed in an ambush, almost 20 years after World War 2 ended.

On 1 August 1944, the Warsaw Uprising broke out. It was the largest offensive that was undertaken by any resistance movement in Europe during World War II. Pilecki, hiding his rank, also fought there (Soldiers of ‘NIE’ were forbidden to risk their lives). After two months of fighting in the Polish capital, the Uprising was crushed by the Germans. It was a disaster, with more than 200,000 deaths, 80% of the city was destroyed, and Pilecki ended up as a POW. The Nazis didn’t know who he was, so he survived the war.

After the War

Germany surrendered on May 8th, 1945, which resulted in the liberation of the prisoners. It wasn’t the end of Pilecki’s struggle for a Free Homeland. In Italy, 1945, Pilecki wrote his final report on Auschwitz, 100 pages in total. Here is the link to this report. 

Pilecki met there Władysław Anders, commander of The Polish 2nd Corps, a major tactical and operational unit of the Polish Armed Forces in the West, which participated in the Italian Campaign, captured Monte Cassino and later on fought on the Gothic Line and in the final spring offensive.

It appeared to be clear that Soviets didn’t intend to leave Poland, and the prospect of free elections seemed unlikely (Stalin’s promise from Yalta Conference). In October 1945, Pilecki accepted yet another undercover assignment – to gather intelligence about growing Soviet atrocities and send it to Polish government-in-exile.

This mission marked him as an enemy of the state, even though the information he collected wasn’t officially top secret. In 1946, any hope that Poland would be free melted away. The remaining active resistance soldiers in Poland were ordered to either escape to West or return to their normal civilian lives. Pilecki received such order as well and declined it.

Trial and Prosecution

On 8 May 1947, Pilecki was arrested. Before his trial, he was tortured, but he didn’t reveal any names, as he had sworn to protect his comrades. He told his wife these words:
“I cannot live. They killed me. Because compared to them Auschwitz was just a trifle.”

The sentence was obvious. All prisoners were either executed or imprisoned. He was accused of illegal border crossing, use of forged documents, not enlisting with the military, carrying illegal arms, espionage for General Władysław Anders, espionage for “foreign imperialism”  and planning to assassinate several officials.

 

Pilecki denied the assassination plans and pleaded guilty to the other charges, but he called his actions legal and in the true interest of Free Poland. He was sentenced to death and executed with a shot to the back of the head on 25 May 1948.

He was 47.

No one knows where his body is now.

Aftermath

For decades, his story was unknown and supressed, due to Soviet censorship at the time. They couldn’t speak about his anti-Nazi actions without telling of his anti-communist activities too.

In 1990, Witold Pilecki was finally absolved of all charges.

The first publication of Witold’s Report took place in 2000, 55 years after the war. Previously classified or suppressed documents about Pilecki became well-known.

A movie about his story is being developed. It is called ‘Operation Auschwitz’, and it is slated for release later in 2016.

His Soviet prosecutor, Czesław Łapiński, died on the way to the hospital, before his trial for judicial murder.

Pilecki’s comprehensive 1945 report on his undercover mission at Auschwitz was published in English for the first time in 2012, under the title The Auschwitz Volunteer: Beyond Bravery.

People doubt Cortez and the Conquistadors, that the Aztecs sacrificed thousands within days, but seeing this savagery, we now witness the very things that they saw with their own eyes.

They cannot. And so where are you, kings and rulers? Where are the righteous kings who “are not a terror to good works, but to evil” and who “does not bear the sword in vain” (Romans 13:3-4)? When will such righteous rulers arise to slay these evildoers?

When will this generation have a pious and righteous emperor, a Constantine, a Theodosius, a Justinian, who will not be afraid, who will not hesitate, to gives these evil devils their just dues?

Read the words of Solomon when he wrote that “A wise king sifts out the wicked, and brings the threshing wheel over them” (Proverbs 20:26), and tell me that it is unbiblical for rulers to take away the lives of these callous heathens!

A pious and righteous ruler must seize these wicked people and say with the holy Samuel, “As your sword has made women childless, so shall your mother be childless among women” (1 Samuel 15:33) before hacking to pieces as this prophet did unto this tyrant. Let the righteous king stand before these pagans, and say with the holy Gideon, “They were my brothers, the sons of my mother. As the Lord lives, if you had let them live, I would not kill you.” (Judges 8:19) And let the pious sovereign strike these Zeebahs and Zalmunnas and take “the crescent ornaments that were on their camels’ necks.” (Judges 8:21)

Let their idols be destroyed, and let their temples be sacked, let the helpless be defended and the Church kept intact, in the midst of this holy war. We will soon have Christendom, and Christ will be our General and our Emperor, and will praise him with prose such as:

St. Paul, the holy Apostle, tells us, “If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” (Romans 12:18) Notice that he says, “If it is possible,” meaning that there are times when peace is not option. But, because peace must always be in our will, for as the blessed Augustine said, “The will must want peace, only necessity should bring war”, then even when the Christian knight strikes, he does so with charity. He approached the enemy and says with Christ,

My soul has dwelt too long
With one who hates peace.
I am for peace;
But when I speak, they are for war. (Psalm 12:6-7)

The true peace of Holy War is not that superficial peace that we hear about so much today; it is not the peace of Antiochus who spoke “peaceable words in deceit” (1 Maccabees 1:31); it is the peace of the prophet Jeremiah who, from high Heaven gave to Judas Maccabeus “this holy sword a gift from God, wherewith thou shalt overthrow the adversaries of my people Israel.” (2 Maccabees 15:16) It is the sword that establishes the true peace, not vain compromises and empty claims of “love” and “dialogue.”

The modern mind says, “how is this peace?” It is peace because it destroys those who are to peace. Holy war unleashes the sword, destroys false peace and brings true peace. The Holy One said, “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” (Matthew 5:9) And who will deny that in many occasions peace is established through combat? Therefore, those righteous soldiers to bring peace by using force and arms against a tyrannical and persecuting enemy, “shall be called children of God.” It is this false peace that David spoke of when he wrote:

Let them not rejoice over me who are wrongfully my enemies;
Nor let them wink with the eye who hate me without a cause.
For they do not speak peace,
But they devise deceitful matters
Against the quiet ones in the land. (Psalm 35:19-20)

There is the mercy of the just, and there is the mercy of the deceptive, who desire mercy on wicked people who deserve none. In one passage David urges God to show no mercy to evil transgressors:

You therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel,
Awake to punish all the nations;
Do not be merciful to any wicked transgressors. (Psalm 59:5)

When the righteous ruler slaughters the wicked, and decrees that they are to punished, it is not just him that does the action, but Christ working through him. The Lord says, “By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.” (Proverbs 8:15) Thus when the king unsheathes the sword of justice, it is Christ using him as an instrument of His holy justice and wrath, and anyone who resists “resisteth the ordinance of God.” (Romans 13:2) This is what St. Augustine said when he praised the Christian emperors’ persecution of the Donatist heretics, saying

 The emperors command this, and it is what Christ also commands, because, when they command what is good, Christ gives the command through them. (Augustine, letter 105)

So when will a Christian ruler rise up and work with His King, Christ, in administering justice; when will the kings of the earth become “partakers of the divine nature” (2 Peter 1:4) and partake in the justice of God? Soon will kings arise to be as that king of whom Christ spoke, “sending his armies, he destroyed those murderers, and burnt their city.” (Matthew 22:7) They will arise to fight the Antichrist and his wicked armies.

The Lord “will raise against him Seven shepherds and eight princely men” (Micah 5:5) and And “the galleys and the Romans shall come upon him” (Daniel 11:30). These are the nations of Christendom, which will revive in the near future, to destroy these evildoers who slaughter the flock. A great restoration will arise, and it will be unlike anything we have ever seen; it will be the restoration of Christendom, the unsheathing of St. Peter’s sword, and final retribution unleashed on the sons of Belial.

The Scriptures say that St. Paul “was permitted to dwell by himself with the soldier who guarded him” (Acts 28:16), and where are the soldiers who will protect the churches from these sanguinary barbarians? Arise, O emperors! Arise and strike these evildoers so “that we may lead a quiet and a peaceable life in all piety and chastity.” (1 Timothy 2:2)

Somali Refugee Rapes Mother on Minnesota Bus Near Her Child Won’t Be Deported

The Somali refugee who raped a mother on a bus in Minnesota at knife point near her 7-year old daughter is not only remaining in the U.S., he is out on $5,000 bail. People are asking why he can’t be deported according to a local news report. ICE has no control according to a spokesman.

He is innocent until proven guilty and he says the sex was consensual. We have taken down the photo of the victim that appeared with the video because we have not been able to verify it.

The 22-year old Somali man who arrived in the United States in September faces charges of criminal sexual conduct, a felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

“A Minneapolis man is being charged with criminal sexual conduct after being accused of raping a woman on a bus passing through Crookston Friday,” according to the Crookston Times.

“Mohamed Harir Ayanle, 22, was released from the Northwest Regional Correction Center Monday on a $5,000 bond and on the condition that he does not leave Minnesota,” the Times reported.

The ICE spokesman said they don’t have jurisdiction until they are released into the U.S.

But he is in the U.S.???

What they say in the video news report below is that he’s here, but they don’t know if he’s been admitted here.

Perhaps these people from Somalia have not been properly screened. These are people from a failed state and there are few records to use for screening.
